Choices – Life is all about choices! We choose where we want to live, where we want to work, who we spend our lives with and what we want to do on a daily basis and also in the future

So when it comes to organizing a funeral for your loved one, it is important to keep in mind that you also have choices. It can be a very stressful and overwhelming time, and it is true that there are a lot of decisions and choices to be made.

But it is vital to know that you can make your own choices

These are just some of the things that you can choose:-

💙 Where to hold the funeral? 💙 What type of casket/coffin do you want? 💙 What flowers do you want? 💙 What songs or tunes do you want played? 💙 Do you want to have a visual tribute? 💙 Do you want stationery? 💙 Do you want a memorial candle? 💙 Do you want to release balloons or doves? 💙 And who do you want to officiate the service for you?

In my years of being a funeral celebrant, I can’t count how many times people have contacted me after their loved ones funeral and said “ I didn’t know that I could choose my own celebrant”

Well did you know that you can? You can choose whoever you wish to officiate a funeral service – however the important thing is that when you make contact with the funeral director, you must mention this

Each funeral director has celebrants and clergy that they call on to officiate services for them - people that they are confident will take care of your wants and wishes for the funeral you are planning

But that does not mean you can’t choose your own. You may have seen someone at a ceremony and want that person to officiate, you may have used a celebrant or clergy at another time and that is why you would like have them officiate again

When you have a loss within your family and you need to organize a funeral, ensure to contact a funeral director and they will assist you with all of the above and more, alleviating stress for you in your time of need
